With this purchase, you will receive an instant download PDF pattern with colored pictures and step by step instructions on how to make your own ID holder. This is a beginner friendly pattern, however, you should be comfortable inserting zippers. We’ve included dozens of pictures to accompany each step, as well as the pattern pieces. Cutting measurements are listed within the instructions as well if you prefer to just use a ruler and rotary cutter, however you will still want to print out the main body pattern piece in order to cut out your ID window. We also have a “how-to” video showing this pattern being made from start to finish (along with all our other patterns) that can be found on our YouTube channel, “Linds Handmade Designs.”
It features a main zippered compartment with an interior slip pocket to place your ID, thereby securing it inside the pouch. It’s a great size for folded cash and coins as well small items like chapstick. It will NOT fit a phone or vaccine card. Finished, it is approximately 3 ½”wide by 5” high. Instructions include making a wristlet strap or lanyard as well.
Materials & Supplies:
• ¼ yard main fabric (includes length for lanyard)
• Fat quarter accent fabric
• 5”x 3” piece of Decovil Light
• ¼ yard of 45” woven interfacing
• (1) 5” #3 zipper (#5 will work as well)
• (1) ½” D ring
• (1) ½” swivel clasp
• (1) 4½” x 3” clear vinyl (12 gauge)
• (1) 1” split ring (*optional)
• Small or 6mm double cap rivets (*optional)
• Breakaway clasp (*optional)
• 5/32” leather hole punch or rotary punch (*optional for rivets)
• Craft glue stick (*optional but highly recommended)
• Wonder clips or metal hair clips
• Quilting ruler
• Rotary cutter
